Political leadership has become a global phenomenon, with the fervour of democracy growing rapidly around the world. It contributes substantially to the stability of many countries where more and more effort continues to be made to strengthen the institutions of state. In spite of political and massive financial investments in the democracy project, and the general agreement on preference for democracy, good governance continues to elude the people. Nigeria has about 812 governments at different levels, it is generally feared that corruption has robs the public of good governance, with very little to show in terms of Grass root development. This faculty seeks to attract attention to the nature and characteristics of the state governance in most countries, to arouse interest and explore how the funds can be better planned, and well managed.
People who want to exploit the opportunities in the public service, particularly, in management or planning positions, to lead the way to a new governance paradigm. It will be very rewarding to planners who wish to offer professional services in change management in public sector.
To provide professional training and solid intellectual base, to deepen knowledge and develop skills built upon current techniques and state of the art in planning and plan implementation, and to open new doors of opportunities to develop expertise in a new dimension of state governance best practice, that has remained largely unexplored.
The programme seeks to produce high caliber international planning professionals who possess the requisite knowledge, skills and competence to excel, either as professional planning service providers or as stakeholders and/or executives.
