Public health concerns have become a global phenomenon in recent times, growing rapidly around the world in the wake of outbreak of deadly diseases, such as Sars, avian flu, swine flu, malaria, HIV/AID, Cancer, etc. They are substantially a drain to the economy of many countries, as more and more health burdens are competing for limited public resources, which could have been devoted to other important needs. The standard of health care delivery in developing countries is generally appalling, in spite of the massive funds voted yearly for health services. Critics raise issues about the spate of frauds and financial malpractices in the management of health. Moreover, there is little attempt to deal with most common deadly disease- malaria fever, typhoid, blindness and others. This faculty seeks to attract attention to the nature and characteristics of the health industry in most parts of the world, to arouse interest to explore how the industry can be better planned, presented, and well managed to raise the standard of health service delivery.
