He holds a Master of Development Studies from Bayero University Kano, PGD (Environmental Mgt) and B.Sc Economics from the University of Maiduguri. He is a fellow of the Institute of Planning, Member Nigerian Institute of Management among other professional bodies.

At various times, he worked with Olasola Adekanola & Co, Stabilini Visinoni Ltd and University of Maiduguri.
