PROF. CHRISTOPHER ORIDO ORUBU
PHD, MSC
He is a member of the Institute’s Governing Council. He is a Professor of Economics at the Delta State, Abraka, Delta State.
His major areas of academic research includes Energy and Petroleum Economics; Development Policy, and Environmental and Resource Economics.
He has over sixty publications in learned journals, books and presentations at various conferences, workshops and seminars spread nationally and internationally.
He was Head of the Department of Economics for several years, and also former Dean of Faculty of the social Sciences at the Delta State University.
He was a full time Consultant Economist (1999-2001) at the National Centre for Economic Management and Administration (NCEMA) based in Ibadan.
He is an active member of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Professor Orubu has held several other positions of responsibility in and outside the University, including:
- Membership of the Board of Directors, Delta State University Investment Company, ltd.
- Delta State Manpower Committee
- Delta State chapter of the Conflict Mitigation and Management Regional Council sponsored by the International Foundation for Education and Self – Help (IFESH).
He is the current Chairman of Delta State University Board of Survey and has also served as Consultant to Delta State Ministries of Commerce and Industry, Economic Planning, and Shell Petroleum Development Company on Environmental Impact Assessment at different times.
